My massage therapy career began as the sole proprietor of my own practice, while concurrently working part-time at various physical therapy and chiropractic offices in Rockville and Columbia in Maryland. I avidly complete and fulfill my mandatory continuing education requirements every two years to maintain an active license.
I became a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) in Maryland in 2013 and began my career in earnest in 2014 after spending time in Minnesota with family while my dad transitioned from his earthly life. In 2018, I attended my first John F. Barnes training in Myofascial Release. Myofascial Release is a hands-on treatment that uses gentle, sustained pressure to release fascial restrictions in the body that can prohibit free movement of our tissue and inhibit healing.
Today, Mary Trotter Massage is continuing to expand while holding on to the same vision, mission and values to which we have always aligned ourselves. We are thrilled to work with our clients and provide them with an optimal healing experience every time. We welcome you to our practice and look forward to seeing you soon!

Licensed Massage Therapist
Myofascial Release Practitioner
I am a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) in the state of Maryland, with more than a decade of experience. I graduated from the Baltimore School of Massage in 2012 and obtained my massage license in 2013.
I began my professional career journey in the wellness industry in 2012. I had just returned from serving in the U.S. Peace Corps and decided to look into becoming a massage therapist. It’s something I had looked into some 30 years earlier, but the timing wasn’t right for me. I attended an information session at the Baltimore School of Massage and decided that day it was the right decision at the right time in my life.
In 2018, I began training in the John F. Barnes Myofascial Release Approach®. I am honored to have achieved the level of Advanced Myofascial Release practitioner and have taken the following courses: Myofascial Release I | Myofascial Release II | Unwinding | Advanced Unwinding | Rebounding | Fascial Pelvis | Fascial Cranium | Cervical Thoracic | Healing Seminar | Skills Enhancement Seminar
As a massage therapist, I strive to help people heal. To help them heal physically, I use many varied techniques and customize treatment for each client. When a client comes in for an appointment, we discuss their health history and together develop a treatment plan. The primary massage therapy modalities I use are the John F. Barnes’ Myofascial Release Approach® in addition to Deep Tissue, Sports Massage, Swedish, and Trigger Point Therapy. I may also incorporate techniques from Acupressure, Cranial Sacral Therapy, Reiki, as well as use Myofascial Cupping and Aromatherapy. I continue using techniques that have worked and will troubleshoot and incorporate new techniques to achieve our desired treatment goals.
Licensed Massage Therapist
As a licensed massage therapist, I have had the privilege of working in diverse environments across the country, from serene spas to fitness retreats. My passion for helping others has deepened my understanding of the mind-body connection and how it shapes the human experience.
My goal in every session is to create a comfortable, healing space where clients can leave behind the stresses of daily life. Each treatment is thoughtfully designed to address areas of tension while fostering balance and well-being that extends beyond the session.
I specialize in Swedish and Deep Tissue Massage, incorporating elements of Cranial Sacral Therapy, Cupping and Reiki when they may be helpful in enhancing the client’s experience.
